Jeune Et Jolie Rated 18

Francois Ozon's coming-of-age story is a provocative portrayal of a 17-year old girl's journey of sexual discovery.

Marine Vacth stars as Isabelle, a seventeen-year-old on a summer holiday with her family when she loses her virginity. Upon returning home, she begins working as a prostitute, eventually developing something of a relationship with an older john who treats her better than many of her other clients. After an unexpected event, Isabelle's mother learns of the girl's secret life, causing a great amount of conflict between everyone in the family, and leading to complications between Isabelle and her stepfather. Meanwhile, Isabelle's younger half-brother wrestles with puberty.

Presented over the course of four seasons, the mood of each characterized by a distinctive song, Ozon's film provides an unprejudiced glimpse into the adolescent female psyche.

"He has made a movie that the Louis Malle of Lacombe, Lucien, or the Truffaut of The 400 Blows, would have appreciated, an explicit look at how our humanity gets lost." Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

"As fizzy and quenching as a pint of lemonade." Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph
