Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (35mm presentation)U

Directed by F. W. Murnau | USA | 1927 | 1h 34m | Starring George O’Brien, Janet Gaynor, Margaret Livingston, Bodil Rosing, J. Farrell MacDonald

The peaceful life of a naïve country man is turned upside down when he falls for a seductive woman from the city. Together, they devise a scheme to break up his otherwise serene marriage, but a sudden change of heart prompts the husband to seek reconciliation and forgiveness. German director F.W. Murnau, a leading figure in the early years of European cinema, brought his expressionistic style to Hollywood with this stunningly staged romance. Despite its initial failure upon release, the film has since been recognised as one of the great masterpieces of cinema’s silent era.

Our screening on Monday 15th April will be a 35mm film presentation. As a result our ticket prices are slightly higher.
