The Day Shall Come Rated 15

The Day Shall Come

Dir. Christopher Morris. UK/USA, 2019. 1h 28m. Starring Marchánt Davis, Anna Kendrick, Denis O'Hare, Jim Gaffigan, Kayvan Novak, Miles Robbins, Danielle Brooks, Adam David Thompson.

The FBI stoke the fires of political disorder by sponsoring and actively encouraging an eccentric preacher to act on his revolutionary desires so that they can eventually arrest him in the name of the War on Terror. An absurd black-comedy satire written by Chris Morris (Brass Eye) and Jesse Armstrong (The Thick of It, Succession), which is bafflingly based on several true stories.

Both screenings on Thursday 21st November will be followed by a post-screening Q&A with the director Chris Morris, chaired by Guardian journalist George Monbiot.

‘Morris handles a delicate balancing act with an expected ease, the work of a satirist with so much to say yet with an awareness that saying less leads to so much more.’ ★★★★ Benjamin Lee, The Guardian
