The Invisible Life of Euridice Gusmao18
In 1950s Rio de Janeiro, two inseparable sisters dream of leaving home and escaping from the control of their conservative parents. But when they suddenly are forced to live apart, they have to take control of their own destinies, all the while hoping that one day they will be reunited. Acclaimed Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz’s lush melodrama about feminine resilience won the Un Certain Regard prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
Reviews
‘Aïnouz’s Invisible Life reflects the kind of love story we rarely see on-screen, and it’s a gem worth discovering for yourself.’
★★★★★ Monica Castillo, The Wrap
‘Lush melodramas are a dying breed, especially masterful ones like Karim Aïnouz’s Invisible Life that wear Douglas Sirkian genre conventions on their sleeve proudly and abundantly.’
★★★★★ Tomris Laffly, RogerEbert.com

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
