As some of you may already know, we’ve been exploring ways to become a community-owned business. Well, we have exciting news!

We have officially set up a Community Benefit Society (CBS) in the name of The Ultimate Picture Palace Community Cinema. We have a talented committee who are making plans, preparing bids, and gathering support to help us make this happen. After months of working hard behind the scenes and assessing the UPP’s financial position, we’re delighted to announce that we plan to launch our share offer in Spring 2020.

This share offer will give you the opportunity to become a community owner of an independent cinema with a wonderful history and to help shape its exciting future. Here’s some headline information about the share offer:

- Shares will be set at £50 each. Individuals can purchase multiple shares.
- Buying shares will make you a voting member of the Community Benefit Society which means you can attend annual meetings and have a vote on important issues to do with the cinema.
- We’re opting for a democratic ownership model where one member gets one vote.
- You may receive interest on your investment.

In the run-up to the launch, we will be publishing an in-depth Share Offer Document as well as a full Business Plan for the CBS, which will go into more detail about this exciting project.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to become an owner of The Ultimate Picture Palace. If we’re unsuccessful in becoming a community-owned business, the UPP will be put up for sale on the market. There is no guarantee that a new owner would continue running the UPP with a similar ethos. They may not even decide to keep the business running as a cinema!

This is your chance to have a say in how The Ultimate Picture Palace continues to run. This is our chance to bring the UPP even closer to the community it serves, and to make our independent cinema even better in the future.

We will continue to provide you with updates on our mailing-list, on our website, and on our social media channels. However, if you do have questions about any of the above, please don’t hesitate to send us an email:

Thank you very much for continuing to support your local independent cinema. Merry Christmas from the committee as well as all the staff and volunteers at The Ultimate Picture Palace.

Can you help?
We’re looking for a skilled fundraiser to help us reach people who might want to invest a larger sum.
We’d like help to identify who those investors might be.
