The Exorcist (Director’s Cut)18

Directed by William Friedkin | USA | 1973 | 2h 12m | Starring Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller

Frequently voted as the scariest and greatest horror film of all time, William Friedkin’s The Exorcist was a critical and box office hit when it was released in 1973 and its legacy has endured to this day. This is the terrifying tale of a mother’s frantic resolve to save the soul of a 12-year-old girl who has been possessed by a ferocious demonic spirit. In a desperate bid to save her daughter, she turns to her last hope: a troubled priest who is struggling with his own faith.

Winner of 1973 Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound Mixing, The Exorcist remains one of the most shocking and gripping movies in the history of cinema. This new digital cinema print was created from restored picture and audio elements under the supervision of Friedkin.

Reviews

‘Unlike a number of director’s cuts, this version does embellish the original film. Fans should see it again, first-timers should believe the hype. Non-believers should suffer eternal damnation.’
